The former Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday cast his vote as the state is undergoing polling during the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. After casting the vote, he was questioned if he would form a government in alliance with I.N.D.I.A bloc, to which he replied: "There is nothing like a bloc. Now, regional parties will be the power in India."
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding BJP's '75 age retirement rule,' Rao stated: "According to the BJP's own rule, after 75 years of age nobody will take up any position. So, accordingly, Mr Modi has to step down. It is quite possible. It is up to the BJP people."
"The voting percentage should be a minimum of 65-70%...That is the situation which is forming in the country (increased role of regional parties), there is no doubt about it," he added, stressing that the regional parties will come to power.
Earlier today, the former Telangana CM and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao cast his vote at a polling booth in Chintamadaka, Siddipet.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had tagetted PM Modi on Sunday over being silent about retiring from politics after he turns 75, alleging that the opposition leaders are being sent to jail under PM Modi's idea of "One leader, one nation".
Prior to this, the AAP supremo had claimed that PM Modi will retire once he turns 75 in September 2025, as per the rules laid down by him.
In 2019, K Chandrashekar Rao's BRS had won nine out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. Rao has served as the chief minister of the state for nearly a decade since its formation in 2014.
During the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, polling is currently underway at all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana. These include Adilabad, Medak, Peddapalle, Hyderabad, Zahirabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Malkagiri, Nagarkurnool, Secunderabad, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Chevalla, Nagarkurnool, Bhongir, and Warangal.
