In the last five years, the assets of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his family have seen a significant increase, growing by over 41% to reach Rs 810.42 crore, as per an affidavit submitted to the Election Commission on Friday. Naidu's wife, N. Bhuvaneswari, filed the nomination on the former CM's behalf for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election scheduled for May 13.
Bhuvaneswari's assets represent the majority share, primarily due to her ownership of 2.26 crore shares of Heritage Foods Ltd, valued at approximately Rs 337.85 apiece (market value). The total worth of her shareholding is nearly Rs 764 crore, a significant increase from Rs 545.76 crore in 2019.
In comparison, the assets owned by Naidu's family in 2019, including movable and immovable assets, amounted to Rs 574.3 crore, as per the affidavit filed by the TDP chief for the last assembly polls.
Additionally, Bhuvaneswari possesses 3.4 kg of gold and nearly 41.5 kg of silver, further contributing to their overall asset portfolio.
The TDP leader personally possesses movable assets valued at Rs 4.80 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 36.31 lakh. However, the family's total liabilities exceed Rs 10 crore.
In addition to his personal assets, the former chief minister owns an Ambassador car valued at Rs 2.25 lakh.
The affidavit also disclosed that Naidu's name appears in 24 FIRs associated with various cases. These cases encompass accusations regarding the Amaravati land scam, the fibernet scam, and the skill development scam, leading to his arrest last year.
At 74 years old, Chandrababu Naidu is contesting the polls intending to return to the position of chief minister, despite having previously served in that capacity for a total of 14 years in both united Andhra Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
In the upcoming May 13 election for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats, the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance is set to face a direct confrontation with the YSR Congress Party.
