The Election Commission has issued a notice to Congress MLA Raju Kage for reportedly making a contentious statement during an election campaign in Madabavi Gram Panchayat on April 30. In his speech, Kage allegedly threatened voters in the Jugulato region with power cuts if they did not vote for the party by a significant margin.

In his speech, he allegedly threatened the voters in the Jugulato region to cut electricity if they didn't vote for the party by a huge margin.

Congress leader Raju Kage, speaking in Kannada in a video, acknowledged receiving fewer votes in certain areas and opted not to comment extensively on Shahpura. However, he warned that if more votes were not secured, he would resort to cutting off electricity.


After the video of the Karnataka Congress MLA went viral, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla strongly criticized the Congress party.


Taking to X, the BJP leader said, "After DK Shivkumar threatened housing society voters to vote for his brother now Congress MLA Raju Kage says if you don’t vote for me there will be electricity cuts as per news reports ((below)) Congress talks of Muhabbat ki Dukan but this is DHAMKI KE BHAIJAAN ECI must act on this It shows sense of entitlement and arrogance of Congress & how they think voters are not Janta Janardhan but their slaves Several instances of Karnataka Congress leaders speaking this language of threats."
