Congress on Wednesday released the fourth list of five candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections.


The party named MirIqbal from Baramullah, Nizamudding Bhat from Bandipora, Bushan Dogra from Suchetgarh and Ashok Bhagat from Akhnoor and Tara Chand from Chhamb.


Earlier on Monday, the grand-old-party released its third list of candidates naming 19 contestants.

The party fielded ex-NSUI chief Neeraj Kundan from Bishnah, Chaudhary Lal Singh from Basohli and Raman Bhalla for the R S Pura-Jammu South seat. Neeraj Kundan, former chief of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), will contest from Bishnah. 






Other key candidates in the second list included Irfan Hafeez Lone from Wagoora-Kreeri, Summit Mangotra from Udhampur West, Manohar Lal Sharma from Billawar, Balbir Singh from Nagrota, Thakur Manmohan Singh from Jammu West, Yogesh Sawhney from Jammu East, and Krishan Dev Singh from Samba.

In the second list of six candidates, the party fielded Tariq Hameed Karra from Central Shalteng, Mumtaz Khan from Reasi, Bhupender Jamwal from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Iftkar Ahmed from Rajouri (ST), Shabir Ahmad Khan from Thannamandi (ST), and Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary from Surankote (ST).


Last month, the party released its first list, which included prominent leaders such as Ghulam Ahmad Mir from Dooru, Vikar Rasool Wani from Banihal, Peerzada Mohd Syed from Anantnag, Sheikh Riaz from Doda, and others.


Jammu and Kashmir is going to polls for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases -- September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will be held on October 8.
