Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday released the manifesto for Congress party in the poll-bound Chhattisgarh ahead of the November 7 Assembly polls. Announcing the poll promises, Baghel said if elected to power, the party will provide Rs 500 subsidy on gas cylinders and conduct caste census in the state.

If elected for a second term, the Congress party under the leadership of Baghel will construct 17.5 lakh houses in rural areas and provide free medical treatment upto Rs 10 lakh.

For victims of road accidents, the cost of treatment will be borne by the government, Baghel said enlisting poll promises.

One thousand rural and urban industrial parks will be set up in the state and loan will be waived for Self Help Groups, Baghel said, adding that 50 per cent subsidy will be provided on loans for start-ups.

The first phase of polling for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will be held on November 7 for 30 constituency seats while the voting for the second phase will take place on November 17. The votes will be counted on December 3.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday released its manifesto where it pledged annual financial assistance to married women and landless agricultural labourers.

It also promised procurement of paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal and cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500 to poor families.

Reacting to BJP's manifesto, the Congress dubbed it as a "copy-cat" and said those criticising its poll guarantees as "freebies" were now themselves pledging guarantees to win elections.

Ahead of releasing its manifesto, the Congress party had already announced a list of 17 guarantees which included loan waiver for farmers.
