BJP is also projected to lead in North and Central parts, while the Congress party will be ahead in South where its main opponent is the JCC-BSP alliance.

In terms of the most preferred for CM, Raman Singh is projected as the most favorable minister for the post, while Ajit Jogi is more preferred than any Congress leader. Voters’ spontaneous preference for CM is Raman Singh with 40%, while 20% people want Ajit Jogi to be the next Chief Minister. On the other hand, Bhupesh Baghel is preferred by 14% of voters and T S Singh Deo by 4% of them.

Over one-third of those wanting Ajit Jogi as the next CM is currently planning to vote for Congress, while some of them may well switch to JCC when the voting day comes. Two of every five Congress voters like Ajit Jogi a lot and nearly half like him somewhat.

The voters have meanwhile, rated Chhattisgarh government positive on important governance parameters except for communal harmony, water supply and safety of women. According to the survey, the anti-incumbency sentiment is stronger than earlier elections but is getting split. JCC-BSP will take away one-fifth of the anti-incumbency vote thus preventing a consolidation around Congress.

The survey also suggests that JCC-BSP alliance is damaging Congress more than BJP as nearly one in six traditional Congress voters is planning to vote for JCC-BSP in the upcoming election. JCC-BSP alliance may well inflict further damage to Congress in the days ahead. Congress voters seem to be far more attracted to the JCC-BSP alliance than BJP voters.

In the 2013 elections, the BJP had won 49 seats while the Congress got 39. The BSP got one seat. Confident of the party's victory for the fourth consecutive term, current Chhatishgarh CM Raman Singh said that there is a "pro-incumbency" wave in the state on the basis of the work his government has done in the agriculture sector and for the effective functioning of the public distribution system.
