Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who secured a historic victory for the BJP in Kerala's Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, has made it clear that he is not seeking a ministerial position. Instead, he expressed his desire to focus on proposing and implementing projects for the welfare of Kerala's people.

Addressing reporters, Gopi emphasised his preference to serve as a Member of Parliament (MP) rather than being confined to a ministerial role. He stressed the importance of being able to work across various ministries to effectively address the needs of the people. Gopi stated, "Please do not confine me to a room. As an MP, I can work on various fronts. I do not aspire to be a minister."

"There can be new revolutionary working platforms. All I want is that when I go with a project for the people of Kerala with determination, the ministries concerned should implement it," he said, as per a report on PTI, in response to reporters' query as to which ministry he would prefer to head.

Acknowledging the significance of his victory in Thrissur, Gopi assured that his responsibilities as an MP would extend beyond the constituency boundaries, encompassing the welfare of both Kerala and neighboring Tamil Nadu, as per a report on PTI.

Commenting on the Thrissur Pooram festival, Gopi hinted at introducing a new approach to the iconic temple festival following reported restrictions in its rituals this year. His win in Thrissur came as a surprise to the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-headed UDF, both of which had dismissed exit poll predictions of Gopi's victory and the BJP's success in Kerala.

Suresh Gopi secured 4,12,338 votes and won by a margin of 74,686 votes in Thrissur of Kerala, according to Election Commission of India.
