Two days after the daughter of a Congress corporator was stabbed to death inside the BVB college campus in Hubbali, BJP leaders Shehzad Poonawalla and Gaurav Bhatia criticized the law and order situation in Karnataka. Poonawalla expressed concern over the alleged escalating violence and criticized the Congress government for reportedly failing to address the issue effectively. Condemning the incident, Bhatia criticized the lack of response from top Congress leaders in such situations. However, Congress said that Karnataka has best law and order in the state.
On the Hubballi murder incident, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, "Today, in Karnataka, what we are seeing is the complete destruction of law and order in the last few weeks particularly and ever since the Congress has come...We see murders taking place daily and the manner in which women are being killed in broad daylight, molested and attacked...as criminals have free run in the Congress government."
If such an incident had taken place to the daughter of a Congress leader, Poonawalla questioned the safety about the people of the state. He said, "In this brutal gruesome incident, where the girl has been killed by the boy, instead of taking strong action against him and his mindset, we see Congress is busy shielding his mindset...If the Congress leader's daughter is not safe, who will be safe in Karnataka?."

On the Hubballi murder incident, BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, "I want to say this that Mallikarjun Kharge should know that in Karnataka law and order situation is demolished and Siddaramaiah 'mast hai.' Our sister was murdered by a dagger...Due to Congress' hate politics, common people are suffering...When such an incident takes place with our sister, then neither Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi nor Priyanka Gandhi Vadra speak up..."
Meanwhile, Congress accused BJP of attempting to create a narrative of law and order issues in the state but the state has best law and order.
