Haryana Election results: The Congress's contender for the Chief Minister's post Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday was confident of a decisive mandate for his party despite falling behind in the counting trends after two hours. He said: "As per our information of the vote-counting trends, Congress will form the government in Haryana."
Dismissing the trend of Congress falling behind, Hooda said: "Congress is going to return after 10 years. We will get the majority... The credit for this win goes to the party, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and the people of Haryana."
He said that despite a few close fights, the BJP will lose. Congress has not fallen behind anywhere, he said. However, he stopped short of revealing a figure for the Congress.
What The BJP Said On Haryana Vote Counting Trends
The BJP's national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, said that the trends said that the trends showed the BJP heading towards a "historic" win. He dismissed Bhupinder Singh Hooda's confidence and said, "There was no Jat vs-non-Jat vote division in Haryana in this election."
Anil Vij, who threw in his hat for the CM's post on Sunday, said: "The result is coming as we had thought. Since the morning, they [Congress] had opened a fake shop of fake "jalebis". Those inside the Congress were celebrating who wanted Hooda to lose."
This was a dig at the Congress's jalebi remarks. Congress spokesperson and chairman of the party's Media & Publicity Department, Pawan Khera, on Tuesday morning, said, "We are certain that today will be a day of celebration for us, with plenty of laddus and jalebis to go around. We're even planning to send some jalebis to Prime Minister Modi... We're confident that we'll form governments in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir with a clear majority."
