The final day of campaigning for the third phase of Uttar Pradesh election saw rising temperatures and direct attacks by two prominent faces of this election - Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath.

While Yogi raked up the "bulldozer" jibe once again, Akhilesh Yadav had no qualms in calling Adityanath a "baba" CM.

Yogi Adityanath was addressing a rally in Mainpuri, which is the bastion of the Samajwadi Party. Akhilesh Yadav, on the other hand, was speaking in the Jalaun district, where BJP is considered a strong party.

"We will use bulldozers after 10th March (election results day) for all those who were hiding for last 4.5 years but have come out during the elections," UP CM Yogi Adityanath said at a rally in Mainpuri.

Akhilesh Yadav brought up a recent crime that had happened in Jalaun. "A girl went missing two days ago from here and her body was found today. Who is responsible for this?

"Baba chief minister is responsible for this. Data shows Uttar Pradesh is the most unsafe place for women today," Former UP CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said in Jalaun

Akhilesh Yadav also spoke about the farmers' protest. "This party (BJP) killed 750 farmers by implementing the three black agriculture laws. If BJP comes to power again, it will sell your land by bringing such laws. Despite withdrawal of the farm laws, farmers have not pardoned them," he said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Union minister SP Singh Baghel from Karhal against Akhilesh Yadav. Baghel alleged that his convoy was attacked last week. Yogi Adityanath in the Mainpuri rally brought up this issue and said, "Leaders of Samajwadi Party have lost their temper by seeing their imminent defeat in Karhal Assembly constituency. The attack on SP Singh Baghel (Union Minister & BJP candidate) is an example of their cowardliness."

The third phase is closing on a heightened pitch from both Samajwadi and Bharatiya Janata Party. It will be interesting to look at the results of these districts where the campaign has become so personal and aggressive.
