New Delhi: After a thumping majority in Punjab assembly election 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is preparing to hit the ground in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat where assembly elections will be held later this year.

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal along with Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann will campaign in the two poll-bound states, reported news agency ANI, citing sources.

"As far as Himachal is concerned, it borders Punjab where AAP just swept the Assembly polls. The AAP is hopeful that the wave of Punjab will also reach Himachal Pradesh" ANI quoted sources.

Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain during a road show in Shimla on Saturday announced that AAP will contest the state elections in Himachal Pradesh. While making the statement Jain said that the common man is "fed up with the BJP and the Congress", and his party wants to provide a good alternative to the people.

He said AAP will contest on all the 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh.

"After Punjab now it's Himachal Pradesh's turn. We will contest elections on all 68 seats in Himachal Pradesh in upcoming Assembly elections," said Jain during the rally.

He also said that AAP will contest the local body polls in Shimla next month to establish a strong foothold in the state.

Gujarat is another state where AAP sees a good opportunity for itself, especially after success in Surat municipal elections. It is expected that Kejriwal will soon start campaigning in the state, according to ANI.

In the recently concluded Punjab assembly election, AAP recorded a landslide victory by grabbing 92 of the 117 constituencies in the state. The party is already in power in the national capital Delhi.
