The destiny of 624 candidates in 59 Assembly segments in the districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda, and Fatehpur will be decided in the fourth phase of voting tomorrow.In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP won 51 of the 59 seats, while the Samajwadi Party won four and the Bahujan Samaj Party won three. As many as 800 companies of paramilitary forces and over 60,000 policemen will provide security across 59 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh.Campaigning for the fifth phase of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a swipe at the Opposition, saying they looted the country in the name of "garibi hatao and Samajwad (socialism)". He also assured the people that this time BJP would notch its fourth consecutive win in Uttar Pradesh.On the other hand, some youths disrupted the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's election address on the topic of Army recruitment, while a man was detained after raising slogans in support of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at rally in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia.The minister was speaking at a rally in Banshi Bazar when the youths disrupted is speech and claimed that recruitment in the Army was on hold for three years now.With Manipur going into polls next week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the state on Tuesday and addressed election rallies in Imphal. Chaos erupted in Kadipur Sani village of Sadar Vidhan Sabha of Lakhimpur Kheri after an unknown person put feviquik in the EVM.  BSP president Mayawati on Wednesday exuded confidence that her party will repeat its show of 2007 and SP president Akhilesh Yadav's dreams of forming government will be shattered.

She also thanked the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for acknowledging BSP's relevance in the state, saying her party is getting votes of all sections of society.

"When the results are declared on March 10, BSP will form its government like it did in 2007 with full majority," Mayawati told media after casting her vote.

Asked about Akhilesh's claims about Samajwadi Party getting Muslim voters' support, she said the ground reality cannot be more different and can be known by visiting villages.

"Members of the religious minorities, the Muslims, have been unhappy with the working style of Samajwadi Party. They believe that even when they had been with it since last five years, when the time came to allot tickets, they were sidelined to make space for others, said the Dalit leader.

Election 2022 Voting LIVE Updates: Polling For UP Fourth Phase In 59 Constituencies Underway

Polling for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections began in 59 constituencies at 7 AM on Wednesday. The state is witnessing a multi-cornered contest with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP)-Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress as principal contenders. The fate of 624 candidates will be sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) today.

59 Assembly seats are spread across the districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda, and Fatehpur. Elections in Uttar Pradesh are being held in seven phases and will conclude on March 7. Voting for the remaining three phases will take place on February 27, March 3, and 7.
