New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Monday congratulated Mohan Yadav after the latter was chosen as the next chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Yadav hails from Ujjain South.


A three-time MLA and leader of the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Yadav was the former Higher Education Minister of the state.


Leaders including former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Narendra Singh Tomar extended their best wishes to Mohan Yadav after he was elected as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislative leader.


In a post on platform X, Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote, "Hearty congratulations to hardworking fellow Shri Dr Mohan Yadav ji on being nominated as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in the BJP Legislative Party meeting.


I am confident ‍that under the able guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri  Narendra Modi ji, you will take Madhya Pradesh to new heights of progress and development and will create new records in the field of public welfare. Many congratulations and best wishes for this new responsibility!"






"Heartiest congratulations. Madhya Pradesh now has its new Chief Minister, heartiest congratulations," Chouhan told reporters.






Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who also campaigned alongside Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, congratulated Yadav.


Taking to X, Scindia wrote, "Hearty congratulations to Shri Dr Mohan Yadav ji from Ujjain (South) on being unanimously selected as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Best wishes for a tenure full of achievements."


"I have full confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri  Narendra Modi ji, you will achieve the goals of the double-engine government and ensure progressive growth of the state," he added.






BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar, who is named as Madhya Pradesh's new Speaker, said, "We congratulate new CM of Madhya Pradesh. Entire party stands with Mohan Yadav."

The BJP's victory in the November 17 assembly polls, securing 163 seats in the 230-member assembly, solidified its position in the state. The Congress, in contrast, trailed behind with 66 seats.
