Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the BJP will win 24-30 seats in West Bengal and emerge as the single largest party in South India.
In an interview to news agency ANI, Amit Shah said that the BJP got 65 Lok Sabha seats in the last election and the party will get more seats than in 2019.
Reacting to the opposition's "Dakshin mein BJP saaf aur Uttar mein half" remark, Shah said, "I stand by my statement. Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu - combining the seats in these 5 states, BJP will emerge as the single largest party."
On being asked the number of seats the saffron party will win in Bengal, the Union Home Minister said, "We are winning 24-30 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal."
"We will increase the number of seats (that the BJP will win in Uttar Pradesh)...We won 65 in the last elections and we will go ahead of that," Amit Shah he added.
The Union Minister also reacted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioning who will be NDA's PM face as PM Modi will turn 75 next year.
Speaking on the remark, Shah said, "They are only contesting elections on 22 seats... No need to take him seriously. Prime Minister Modi will remain till 2029, and Arvind Kejriwal I have bad news for you...Even after 2029 PM Modi will lead us."
