New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP, and Congress train their guns at each other over women's honour. The debate started after Rahul Gandhi's controversial “fight against a shakti” remarks.

At a rally in Mumbai on Sunday, Gandhi had said, "We are not fighting against a political party...We are not fighting against Narendra Modi, nor are we fighting against one person. But, one face has been projected in the forefront." "In Hindu dharma, there is a word 'shakti'. We are fighting against a 'shakti' (power). The question arises as to what is that 'shakti'...," he had said.

Since his remarks on 'Shakti,' BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have sharpened their attack on Rahul Gandhi. PM Modi has, notably, turned the issue into an important theme in the party’s campaign for the Lok Sabha election.

Taking a jibe at the Congress leader, the BJP on Thursday released a poster of Rahul Gandhi with medals, with a caption saying 'If Insulting Women Was A Sport.'

Sharing the poster on X, the BJP on Thursday wrote, "Only sport he'd be a champ in!!"

BJP also took to X to share an ad on maternity leave. It was captioned, "Modi government is giving 6 months paid maternity leave. Now India does not have to compromise with career."

Meanwhile, a delegation of Congress leaders comprising Mukul Wasnik, Salman Khurshid, and Supriya Shrinate met the Election Commission.

After the meeting, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the prime minister stands with demonic power.

She said, "PM Modi had said in one of his statements - 'I will risk my life against the rapists.' Narendra Modi ji, the daughters of Manipur, Kathua, Kanpur, Banaras, and Hathras are asking you – when will you risk your life?"

Congress leaders today complained to the Election Commission against Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) advertisements featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture on trains, petrol pumps, bus stands, and other places for the party's election campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.
