New Delhi: When the Aam Aadmi Party swept an absolute majority in Delhi in the 2015 Assembly polls, people were convinced that the party will play a pivotal role in the national politics and that it would emerge as a significant player by the 2019 general elections.

However, as the results for the Lok Sabha elections 2019 are just days away, the party appears to be losing major grounds in the parliamentary polls, ABP News Exit Poll predicted.

Besides contesting in Delhi’s seven seats, the AAP fielded candidates from thirteen seats in Punjab and two in Goa, independently. In Haryana, it contested elections in three seats in alliance with Jannayak Janata Party.

Despite the party’s claims of having a good influence in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, almost all exit polls including ABP Nielsen survey, predicted a wipe-out for AAP or just 1 seat at best.

In Haryana, which sends 10 members to the Lok Sabha, AAP is predicted to get zero seats, while BJP is likely to bag 7 seats, and Congress is predicted to win three seats.

In 2014 , the BJP-led NDA swept the polls winning 7 out of the 10 seats. Congress won only one seat, while two seats were won by Indian National Lok Dal.

In Punjab, which sends 13 members to the Lok Sabha, a wipe-out is predicted for the Aam Aadmi Party. The scenario is predicted to be very much like the 2014 polls in the state. As per ABP Exit Poll forecast, Congress is projected to register victory of eight seats, while BJP is likely to win 5 seats.

In the 2014 general elections which were held in the seventh phase in Punjab, Congress fared well winning 8 of the 13 seats in the state. The BJP-SAD combined clinched 4 seats while the AAP could not open its account.

The Exit Poll prediction may come as a major disappointment for AAP in Delhi as well. While the party was banking upon strong candidates like Atishi Marlena and Raghav Chadha in Delhi, the party will be able to manage winning only one out of the total seven seats in the national capital, as per the ABP News’ Exit Poll forecast.

The BJP is likely to sweep Delhi Elections with winning 5 out of seven Lok Sabha seats. However, the prediction shows loss of two seats for BJP in the national capital with Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) winning one seats each here.

In the 2014 general elections in Delhi, the BJP had swept the polls winning all seven parliamentary seats in the state.

This time a triangular struggle was witnessed in the national capital with Delhi, Congress and AAP pitched in neck-and-neck battle and with each party claiming results in its favour.
