Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday release the fifth list of candidates for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections.


According to the list, Gorakhnath Kerkar will contest from Cumberjua, Uday Salkar has been fielded from Thivim and Dr Mariano Godinho from Nuvem, ANI reported.


Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Kejriwal announced lawyer and social worker Amit Palekar as his party’s chief ministerial candidate for Goa.


Palekar is from the OBC Bhandari community, which accounts for about 35 percent of Goa’s population.


The AAP, which has decided to go solo in Goa, had earlier on Tuesday announced its fourth list of candidates for the assembly elections.


According to the list, Lincoln Vaz will contest from Margao, Nanu Naik from Priol, Gabriel Fernandez from Curchorem, Rahul Pereira from Quepem and Manoj Amonkar from Sanquelim.


The AAP had also announced to support Dr Chandrakant Shetye in Bicholim assembly constituency.


The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is eyeing a second term in power in Goa, has also decided to go solo.


The Congress has so far tied with the regional Goa Forward party for the upcoming polls.


Ruling out an alliance with the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has joined hands with the Shiv Sena for the Goa elections.


The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has joined hands with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).


Polling for the 40-member Goa Assembly will take place in a single phase on February 14.


The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
