‘Police Let Parvesh Verma's Goons Attack AAP Workers, Didn’t Take Action’: MP Sanjay Singh Writes To ECI

AAP MP Sanjay Singh alleged that BJP workers assaulted AAP members near Parliament, blaming police inaction and demanding the suspension of Parliament Street Police Station SHO.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh wrote a letter to the Election Commission, alleging that BJP workers had assaulted AAP members in the slums near Chelmsford Club in Delhi on Saturday. He demanded the immediate suspension of the SHO of Parliament Street Police Station for failing to take action on the incident after seeking repeated help.

 

Describing the complete incident, he wrote to ECI, "Through this letter, I would like to file a complaint regarding an incident that occurred today, 01.02.2025, around 1 PM, at the Chemsford slum area, which falls under the New Delhi Assembly constituency and is located approximately 100 meters from the Parliament House. Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma’s goons, wearing BJP caps and scarves, physically assaulted our workers, Gaurav Singh, Suresh Acharya, and Pranali Rawat, and also misbehaved with our female worker, Pranali Rawat."

He further noted that AAP workers repeatedly asked for help from the police, but the police ignored and sided with the BJP goons. Amid this, a TV channel camera was also broken. He added that the police present at the scene responded, "The SHO has forbidden any action against Pravesh Sahib Singh’s workers."

Lashing out at the SHO, Sanjay Singh said any incident can occur in that area under the supervision of such an incompetent SHO, therefore, the SHO must be suspended immediately. This incident took place just 100 meters away from Parliament, violating Election Commission rules, yet no action is being taken. 

"Upon receiving the news of the assault, when I reached the spot, BJP goons were also shouting slogans in front of me. I lodged a complaint with the police and the election officer, but no action was taken," Singh stated.

"Therefore, I request you to take immediate cognisance of this incident and suspend the SHO of Parliament Street. Otherwise, the blatant violation of Election Commission rules will continue, and the Election Commission's claim of conducting impartial elections will be proven hollow," he further added in the letter.
