The opposition alliance, which includes parties such as the Trinamool Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, was formed with the aim of challenging the BJP in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Currently, the Amritsar seat is held by Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, and Bathinda is represented by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

In Punjab, the seats of Khadoor Singh, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, and Sangrur are held by Congress MPs Jasbir Singh Gill, Amar Singh, Mohammad Sadique, and SAD (Amritsar) MP Simranjit Singh Mann respectively.
