According to the office of chief electoral officer (CEO) of Delhi, 981 candidates have filed a total of 1,521 nomination papers for the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled in upcoming month February, as reported by new agency ANI.
As per the details furnished by the office of CEO Delhi, a total of 680 nomination papers were filed on January 17, which was the last date of filing nominations.
The scrutiny of candidates, who have filed the nominations to contest in Delhi Assembly Elections, will be done today. However, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 20.
According to the data shared by office of CEO of Delhi, while a total of 183 nominations were received from 108 contesting candidates from the North district, the highest among the districts, the total nominations received from South West district were 153, with 108 candidates in the fray.
From the West district, 170 nominations were received from 104 candidates, while 154 nominations were received from 99 contesting candidates from the Central district.
From New Delhi district, a total of 135 nominations were received from 85 contesting candidates. While from North West district, 139 nominations were received from 90 candidates, 140 nominations were received from 93 candidates of South East district.
In another news, ahead of the assembly election in Delhi, a total 180 cases of alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been registered by Delhi Police from January 7 to January 14 in the national capital.
In order to uphold law and order, preventive measures led to the arrest of 7,454 individuals under various provisions, including the Excise Act, at reporeted by news agency PTI.
Delhi goes to polls on February 5 and the results will be announced on February 8.
