New Delhi: BJP leader Smriti Irani will begin her two-day campaigning in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from today.

The Union Minister's rallies are a part of the BJP's Vijay Sankalp Kisan Morcha Sammelan. She will be addressing a Kisan Rally in Parshedpur at the Gyaan Bharti Inter College on Thursday. She will also address a public meeting in Salon.

Smriti shall be locking horns with Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, which is considered a Congress bastion. Smriti's opponent in the constituency Rahul Gandhi is a three-time MP from the seat. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Irani had lost to Gandhi by a margin of over 1.07 lakh votes.

The BJP leader has left no stone upturned  in her own contributions in Amethi over the last five years, holding a spree of rallies, with PM Narendra Modi doing the same just weeks earlier at the inauguration of an ordnance manufacturing unit.

Her poll opponent in Amethi will also be fighting the elections from Wayanad. He will file his nomination by 11 AM on Thursday, senior party leader Ramesh Chennithala said. Irani will be addressing a Kisan Rally in Parshedpur at the Gyaan Bharti Inter College on Thursday
