New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will observe the 12th National Voters' Day (NVD) on January 25 with the theme 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participative,' according to a press release issued on Monday.

The topic of this year's NVD, 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participative,' envisions an emphasis on ECE's commitment to facilitating active voter participation during elections and making the whole process hassle-free and memorable for all types of voters, ANI reported.

M Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India, has agreed to be the Chief Guest at the national occasion. However, because he will be unable to attend the celebration in person, his message will be given digitally at the event. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Law and Justice, will be present at the event as the Guest of Honour.

"National Voter Awareness Contest on social media - ‘My Vote is my Future- Power of One Vote’ to be launched. National Awards for the best electoral practises for the year 2021-22 will be conferred on State & District level officers," Election Commission was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

During the ceremony, newly registered voters will be acknowledged and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

The Commission has just initiated a new endeavour to distribute the EPIC, together with a personalised letter and a Voter Guidebook, to newly enrolled voters.

NVD Is Observed On Jan 25 To Commemorate ECI's Founding Day

Since 2011, every year on January 25, National Voters' Day has been observed across the country to commemorate the Election Commission's founding day, i.e. January 25, 1950.

The primary goal of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate, and maximise enrolment, particularly among new voters.

The day is dedicated to the country's voters and is used to raise voter awareness and encourage informed participation in the political process.
