New Delhi: A day after staking claim to form government, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and the CM-designate of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi at her residence in New Delhi. Soren arrived at 10 Janpat to extend invitation to Gandhi for his swearing-in ceremony which is scheduled to take place on December 29 (Sunday).

As per sources, 4 ministerial berths will be allotted to the candidates from Congress party. "I have invited Sonia Gandhi Ji & Rahul Ji for the oath taking ceremony. Sonia Ji has assured that Rahul Ji will attend the ceremony. I will also invite Prime Minister and Home Minister for the oath taking ceremony," Soren told reporters after his meeting.

In the decisive assembly elections which proved to be an electoral tsunami for the BJP, the pre-poll alliance of JMM, Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won 47 seats in the 81-seat Jharkhand assembly.

The Congress alone clinched 16 seats, while the JMM emerged as the single largest party with 30 seats. The BJP was reduced to 25 seats, this time.

The Congress is likely to claim for deputy chief minister post for one of its senior leaders - either for Rajendra Singh or Alamgeer Alam. On Tuesday, Hemant Soren met governor Draupadi Murmu and staked claim to form the government. The Governor has invited JMM leader to form the government.

Soon after the trends revealed victory for the Opposition alliance of JMM-Congress-RJD, Sonia Gandhi said that the win in Jharkhand is of extreme importance as people have defeated 'BJP's attempts to divide the society'.

Thanking the people of Jharkhand for extending their support in the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance, Gandhi also congratulated Soren, the JMM working president - who set to be the next chief minister of the state.
