“In view of the requests being received from the stakeholders to extend the last date for submitting comments/suggestions/feedback on the aforesaid draft Regulations, the last date for receiving comments on the draft regulations is hereby extended to 3rd February 2023. Notably, the UGC recently drafted a set of Regulations governing the establishment of foreign university campuses in India, in line with the NEP 2020, and sought feedback on the same. However, the draft has drawn mixed reactions from various stakeholders like academicians and industry experts.
UGC’s new regulation allows foreign universities in the Global Top 500 rankings to set up campuses in India. The draft also allows such universities to repatriate the earned profits from their prospective Indian campuses to their parent institution without any restriction.
