Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made for the Group 1 services mains examinations, scheduled from October 21 to 27, despite ongoing protests from aspirants demanding a postponement, as reported by news agency PTI.

Several candidates met with Telangana Congress President B Mahesh Kumar Goud and BRS Working President K T Rama Rao, seeking their support in rescheduling the exam. The aspirants who met Rao claimed the government is "stubbornly" proceeding with the exams, despite 22 pending court cases. They also raised concerns about reservation-related issues, the BRS noted in a statement.

During a video conference with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) chairperson Mahendar Reddy, district collectors, and other officials on Thursday, Kumari stated that 31,383 candidates will take the Group-1 mains exam at 46 centers across Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajigiri districts. She emphasized that security measures are in place to prevent any untoward incidents. The district collectors and police commissioners will supervise the examinations and ensure smooth conduct, she added.

Meanwhile, several aspirants staged a protest at a park in Gandhi Nagar, holding placards demanding the postponement of the exams, with slogans like "Reschedule Group-1 exams - Save Group-1 aspirants." The protesters were later removed by the police.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the aspirants who approached him expressed concerns about exam scheduling and the impact of specific Government Orders (GOs). He acknowledged that aspirants had already suffered delays due to notifications and paper leaks during the previous BRS regime. Goud assured them that he would raise these issues with the Chief Minister and relevant authorities to ensure a transparent and fair recruitment process.

BRS leader K T Rama Rao urged the government to consider the aspirants' demand for postponement positively. He assured the aspirants that the BRS would support them in their legal efforts to address their grievances.
