Latur: Several teacher aspirants who were selected for appointments in Rayat Shikshan Sanstha after passing the Teachers Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) in Maharashtra are protesting in Pune for their jobs, despite an official statement on Sunday indicating that the issue is currently in court. The protest began on August 13 in front of the Education Commissioner’s office in Pune, as reported by news agency PTI.

The protesters, about 800 in number, stated that they passed the state government-conducted TAIT and have been waiting for their appointment letters for the past five months. Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is an educational society that operates government-aided schools throughout the state.

The candidates pointed out that those who chose Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools have already started their jobs and are receiving salaries.

“Nobody is acknowledging our demand. We will not call off our protest until we receive our jobs,” said one of the candidates.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare confirmed that the matter is sub-judice.

“I have spoken with them twice. They are aware that the matter is in the high court. The final decision depends on the court’s verdict. I tried to persuade them that protesting is not a solution,” he said.

The appointments of these TAIT-qualified candidates in Rayat Shikshan Sanstha schools have been delayed due to temporary workers filing a court case seeking permanent positions.
