According to media reports, this year over 17 lakh students appeared for the exams. Like most exam boards in India, the MSBSHSE was unable to conduct exams for all the subjects due to the coronavirus outbreak and the nationwide pandemic. Therefore this year a special marking scheme based on internal assessment will be used.

To pass the exams students require at least a minimum of 35 percent. In 2019 the overall pass percentage was 77.10 percent.
