22 people have been detained in connection to the General Science paper leak incident for the Class 10 board examination in Assam, according to the state's Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh. The individuals were detained at various locations, including Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.


In a tweet, the DGP said: "Reference paper leakage case of General Science (C3) of HSLC examination being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam -- 22 persons have been detained at/from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia."


"Further lawful action as mandated by law is being taken against them. We remain committed to unearth the network of people involved in the leakage of the question paper and the conspirators," DGP added.






The Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had earlier detained three individuals, including two teachers and a driver, in relation to the incident.


The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) cancelled Monday's examination after the paper leak was discovered. The SEBA has also faced allegations of paper leaks in other subjects since the start of the Class 10 Board examination in the state.


The Assam government has vowed to take strict action against those involved in the paper leak and has assured students that the board will take all necessary steps to ensure the integrity of the exams.


SEBA has already announced a rescheduled date for the cancelled HSLC General Science exam. The General Science paper scheduled for March 13, 2023, now will now be held on March 30, 2023. 


The cancelled English examination in JR Higher Secondary School, Ganirgram will now be held on 28th March.
