NEET PG 2024 Result Controversy: The Supreme Court will hear the NEET PG aspirants' petition on transparency of the result on Friday, September 13, 2024. On September 7, a group of NEET-PG 2024 aspirants filed a petition against the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). In the petition, students request the Supreme Court to direct NBEMS to release the response sheets, raw and pre-normalized scores along with normalised results and answer keys for both examination shifts.

Aspirants have also requested that counselling for NEET PG 2024 be suspended until these issues are resolved. Additionally, they seek the option of revaluation for those dissatisfied with their results and propose that these measures—release of answer keys, question papers, and revaluation options—be standard for all future NEET PG examinations to maintain transparency.

The petition filed by Ishika Jain along with several other candidates, has been registered under diary number 41088/2024.

The petitioners argue that the release of the answer key is crucial for maintaining transparency and trust in the evaluation process. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the petition this Friday.

The advocate representing the petitioners, Parul Shukla, is expected to present arguments on importance for immediate release of the answer key to uphold the integrity of the competitive examination.

Notably, The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) on August 23. After the announcememnt of the result, several students raised concerned over transparency of result. Students raised concerns about their unexpectedly low ranks, which they identified after comparing their answers with unofficial answer keys provided by their coaching centers.

With the counselling process approaching, the candidates are under pressure for timely resolution. They have been actively urging the NBEMS to expedite the release of the answer key.

Additionally, on September 4, the aspirants submitted a formal request to the NBEMS, asking for the NEET-PG 2024 answer key to be released and for a grievance portal to be opened for at least 15 days, allowing them ample time to voice their concerns and submit any discrepancies they find.

What Are the Aspirants' Concerns?

One of the NEET-PG aspirants who alleged discrepancies in his result told ABP Live, "I was expecting a score around 480-490 based on calculations from various sources, but I received a rank of 37,000. Last year, with the same marks, my rank was 18,000-19,000. This year’s paper was more difficult, so I anticipated a rank of around 15,000. This feels like a big scam."

Another aspirant stated that he was shocked to see the rank inflation this year as compared to the previous year's trends. "Based on answer keys from multiple sources, I had 115-120 correct answers out of 170 attempted questions, but my rank is 1.45 lakh. Even with increased competition, my rank should have been less than 75,000, but it has doubled," he said.
