RISE 2023 (RE-Imagining School Education), an event to share ideas, foster dialogue, and embrace innovation in the field of education, will be held from November 17-19 at the Alliance Française campus in Delhi's Lodhi Estate. The theme of this year's event, which has been curated by author and educationist Vaishali Gupta, founder of One Teacher One Scientist (the pedagogy partner), is 'Global Citizenship in Indian Schools'.


The event will primarily focus on exploration of holistic education and the significance of neuroscience, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). RISE 2023 is being held in collaboration with UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (UNESCO MGIEP), underscoring the event's international significance. 


Eminent personalities, speakers and educationists like Junhi Han (UNESCO), Dr Patrick Mitchell (Newcastle University, UK), Dr Nandini Chatterjee Singh (UNESCO MGIEP), Padma Bhushan Dr Shyama Chona (founder of Tamana), Padma Shri Dr Gowri Ishwaran (Shiv Nadar Foundation), Ambassador Dr Mohan Kumar (OP Jindal University), Dr Oscar Pujol (Institute Cervantes), Dr Ameeta Wattal (DLF Foundation), Dr Sandhya Awasthi (DPS Greater Noida), Abha Adams (Ahvaan Education Foundation), Dr Richa Agnihotri (Sanskriti School), Dr Amita Mishra (Cambridge School DPS International), Dr Asha Pandey (Sanskrit Educator) and Shikha Jain (DRONAH) will grace the three-day event.


NGOs like Pratham, Save the Children, Room to Read, and TARA will also share their experiences at the event that will also be attended by parents, teachers, and children. 


The event will have sessions such as "Parenting in the 21st Century" by Dr Shyama Chona, "Social and Emotional Wellness at Home" by Inner Journeys School of Soul Sciences, "Career counselling" by College Core Education, "Neuroscience based tips and pointers" by master trainer Dr Patrick Mitchell along with Dr Nandini Chatterjee Singh. Dr Mitchell and Dr Singh will elaborate on the role neuroscience in education and share tips and ideas on how emotions impact learning and how to enhance memory and recall.


Other sessions that have bene planned are "Experiential storytelling for children" by Culture Monks, theatre workshops by Patrick Beck and others, "Tips on integrating the SDGs in the school curriculum" by UNESCO MGIEP, "Classroom enquiry and reflections" by Vaishali Gupta, "Understanding the role of art in bridging boundaries and art as a medium of self-expression" by Dr Vladimir Zaitsez from the Lycée Français International de Delhi and Argha Ganguly and the Design Village.


A special financial literacy session for children in Hindi by the DBS bank, and an interaction with author Sutapa Basu are also in the pipeline.


Sessions on French cuisine, martial arts and self-defence by Alok Jain, yoga and wellness by Anuska Ilijic and climate literacy sessions by Earth Day Networks from Kolkata are also lined up. A special session on “Pedagogies to teach a foreign language” will be held by Alliance Française de Delhi teachers.


A puppetry show conceptualised by Padma Shri Dadi Pudumjee of The Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust will also be on show at 5 pm on November 17. The three-day programme will end with a violin performance by Ustad Johar Ali in support with SPIC MACAY on the 19th November evening.
