The National Testing Agency will re-conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET (UG), for 1,563 students who were awarded grace marks. "Subsequent to the Hon'ble Supreme Court's observations on the report of NTA's High Powered Committee, the grace/compensatory marks awarded to all 1563 students stand withdrawn. A re-test of all 1563 candidates will be held on June 23, 2024. NTA will issue a public notice shortly and also contact these 1563 candidates through email to ensure that they receive the official communication, "NTA said in a post on X.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court acknowledged the Union Government's announcement that the scorecards of 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates who received compensatory marks on June 4 will be invalidated. These candidates are now eligible to participate in a re-test, expected to take place on June 23.

As per the committee's recommendations, the scorecards of the 1,563 students will not be valid and these candidates will receive their actual scores without any additional marks. Moreover, a retest will be arranged for these 1,563 candidates. Those who opt out of the re-exam will have their results declared based on their original marks from the May 5 examination, without any compensatory marks. For those who participate in the retest, their scores from the May 5, 2024 exam will be disregarded, and their marks from the retest will be considered.

NEET UG Result 2024: What Was The Normalisation Policy Adopted By NTA?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) adopted a normalisation formula based on a 2018 Supreme Court decision regarding a similar situation in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). This formula, used in the CLAT 2018 exam, adjusted candidates' scores based on the time lost and answer efficiency.

Following this precedent, the NTA implemented a similar approach to compensate 1,563 candidates for the time lost during the NEET UG 2024 exam. According to the NTA, the adjusted marks for these candidates ranged from -20 to 720. Notably, two candidates received scores of 718 and 719, respectively, as a result of the compensatory marks.
