The Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2023 has been cancelled following reports of answers being printed in the question paper itself. The PSTET 2023 Exam was held on March 12, 2023, across several designated test centres across the state. The PSTET 2023 Exam aims at shortlisting suitable candidates as teachers in Punjab Government Schools.

The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) conducted the PSTET 2023 to recruit teachers for Class 6 to Class 8 in Punjab Government Schools. The admit cards for the exam were released on March 8, 2023.

However, soon after the conduct of the exam, several reports emerged on the internet claiming that correct answers to over 50 questions were marked in bold in the question paper. The reports claimed that while the PSTET 2023 Exam had multiple-choice questions, the correct answers were marked in bold among the option choices.

Soon after the goof-up by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the exam will be held again. “To maintain complete fairness in our examination process, a PS level probe has been ordered to look in to PSTET exam conducted by a third Party with A++ NAAC grade i.e. GNDU. Accountability will be fixed & those found guilty will be booked for criminal negligence,” Bains tweeted from his official handle.

“Further, GNDU has regretted & will re-conduct the exam without any fees. In future, have ordered my department to have a suitable clause for compensation in the MOU’s signed with third parties for compensation of the candidates in such a scenario. Why should candidates suffer,” Bains further added in a series of tweets.

In the meantime, some candidates have also demanded to reconduct the PSTET Paper-1 exam. Several candidates have claimed on the internet that the questions in Paper-1 were misprinted, making it very difficult for students to understand the question first and then answer.
