Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the central government will establish a Central Tribal University in the ‘Mulug’ district of Telangana. PM Modi further said that the new tribal university will be named after tribal goddesses ‘Sammakka and Sarakka,’ worshipped in Telangana. The university will be brought to life with a budget of Rs 900 crore, PM Modi said. The prime minister announced the new varsity while addressing a public meeting in Temangana’s Mahbubnagar, where he also virtually launched infrastructure projects worth Rs 13, 500 crore today, October 1, 2023.
During his address, the prime minister also laid foundation stone and flagged off several infrastructure projects in the state including road, rail, petroleum and natural gas and higher education. The projects are aimed at enhancing the infrastructure, connectivity and education quality in the poll-bound land-locked state. He also flagged a new train service from Krishna railway station to Kacheguda through video conferencing at the event.
"Today, I am happy that I inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various road connectivity projects which will bring a big change in the lives of the people here (Telangana)," PM Modi said.
Underlining some of the efforts of the union government since its came to power in 2014 like the increase in number of LPG gas connection from 14 crore in 2014 to 32 crore at present, PM Modi also underlined the centre’s commitment towards women empowerment in regard to the recently passed Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (Women's Reservation Act).
"The season of festivals has commenced in the country and we have established the spirit of 'Shakti Puja' even before Navratri by passing the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (Women's Reservation Act) in the Parliament," PTI quoted PM Modi as saying in the event.
At the event, the prime minister also inaugurated five new academic buildings of the University of Hyderabad, one of India’s premier central universities and an ‘Institution of Eminence.’ The newly inaugurated academic buildings of the University of Hyderabad include: School of Economics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Management Studies, Lecture Hall Complex – III, and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication (Annexe). The infrastructure updates at the University of Hyderabad come as a bid from the union government to offer enhanced facilities to the students at the Institution of Eminence.
