NEET UG Exam 2021: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG, a medical entrance exam, was held on Sunday, September 12, 2021. More than 95 per cent of the registered candidates appeared in the examination conducted at more than 3800 centres across the country. This year, a total of 16.14 lakh candidates had registered for NEET UG Exam.
Last year, more than 85 per cent of the registered candidates had appeared in the examination amid the covid-19 epidemic. A senior official said, "Following all the guidelines of covid-19, more than 95 per cent of registered candidates appeared in the examination held on Sunday."
The NEET-UG exam 2021 was conducted in 13 languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, Oriya, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu and English. Among the languages, Punjabi and Malayalam were newly added. This year, the exam was also conducted in Dubai and Kuwait.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) was earlier scheduled to be conducted on August 1, 2021, but later it was postponed till September 12, 2021. The number of cities where the exam was conducted was increased from 155 to 202.
Last year, the NEET UG exam was conducted on September 13, 2020, amid strict precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 13.66 lakh candidates had appeared in the examination, out of which 7 lakh 71 thousand 500 candidates were qualified. The National Testing Agency conducts the NEET-UG Examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and other undergraduate medical courses in medical, dental, AYUSH and other institutions.
