Dr. Gopal Krushna Pal, Director of AIIMS Patna, confirmed the arrest of four students by the CBI in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. Dr. Pal said that the administrative committee has deliberated on the matter and decided that the students may face suspension, pending further legal consultation.

Speaking to ANI Dr Gopal Krushna Pal said, "The report that has come is that CBI has arrested them, it is true. CBI has also given us information that our four students have been formally arrested."

"So after that our administrative committee meeting was held and in the administrative committee meeting today we discussed it and the decision was that the students can be suspended, but subject again to the legal opinion," Dr Gopad added.

The CBI on Thursday arrested four MBBS students of AIIMS Patna as part of their investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak case. The CBI arrested three third-year MBBS students — Chandan Singh, Rahul Anant, Kumar Shanu — and one second-year student, Karan Jain, following extensive questioning.

They were apprehended from their hostel rooms in the presence of senior faculty members, whose cooperation had been sought in advance by the agency. The students' hostel rooms have since been sealed.

The FIR from Bihar pertains to the paper leak, while the remaining ones from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra involve impersonation of candidates and cheating. The agency's own FIR, based on a reference from the Union education ministry, calls for a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2024.
