New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to hear a fresh batch of pleas seeking the postponement of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams. Even though the apex court had earlier refused to entertain the review petition filed by ministers of six states, seeking review of the court's August 17 order to conduct NEET-UG and JEE (Mains) examinations, a fresh batch of plea was filed and the court was expected to hear it today.

But according to a report by Bar and Bench, cut short Advocate Neela Gokhale’s argument and said that ‘they are not inclined’. A Bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan, Subhas Reddy and MR Shah was hearing the case.

This seems to be the end of the road for students who are apprehensive about the upcoming exams due to rising coronavirus cases in the country. This implies that the NEET examinations will be conducted on their scheduled dates that is on September 13.

After the decision, many candidates took to social media expressing their dismay.

Some have even tagged BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who has been supporting the cause of the students asking him to intervene.

After dismissing the plea submitted by students, the court rejected the review petition by six state government ministers of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh had approached the apex court on 28 August seeking review of its 17 August order. These ministers belong to non-BJP ruled states and have filed a review petition in the apex court for a postponement of JEE-NEET exams.
