New Delhi: As there seems no near-term respite from Coronavirus outbreak in the country, universities in Delhi are planning to hold online examinations. As Delhi is one of the red zones in the country, CM Arvind Kejriwal stresses the importance of social distancing and discusses measures to conduct courses online.


According to an IANS report, Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia held a video conference review meeting with the VCs regarding the academic matters, the government said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-Chancellors of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University; Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology; Delhi Technological University; Ambedkar University, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women; National Law University; Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University and the Director of IIIT Delhi.

The meeting was conducted to discuss three key issues:

  • how the universities are planning the admission process of the upcoming academic session.

  • the action plan of the universities to conduct the pending examinations and how they will conduct the next academic session.

  • the issue of the final year students who have already got placement but some examinations are pending.


For final year students, the universities are planning to provide a provisional degree certificates so that they don’t face any issues in joining the companies. While for the students in college, the CM suggested using technology as proactively as possible to recover academic losses.

CM stressed the fact that social distancing is important and that universities should plan the next academic session and its functioning keeping in mind social distancing.

Deputy CM Sisodia also said that the business faculty and departments of these universities should suggest steps to revive the economy post lockdown.
