The Jharkhand government has brought in a new bill to put a stop to cheating and question paper leaks in competitive exams in the state. The Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention And Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2023, was passed in the Jharkhand Assembly today, August 3, in this matter. The new Jharkhand bill is aimed at fending off malpractices and irregularities in examinations, and keeping a check on cases of question paper leaks in particular. The bill brings in strict measures in place for those caught with cheating in exams in the state as well as networks that involve in leaking exam papers and other unfair activities in exams. 


The harkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention And Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill 2023 will ensure appropriate and strict eliminative measures on any usage of unfair means, irregularities, and paper leaks in competitive examinations in the state. The bill makes way for strict punishment for those involved in cheating and paper leaks in competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand government, news agency ANI reported.

As per the provisions of the bill, any candidate who is caught cheating or using any form of unfair means in any Jharkhand competitive exam shall be charged with a fine of Rs 5 lakh and an imprisonment for up to three years. The bill further proposes that the failure to pay the fine would add up additional 9 months in the imprisonment term, ANI reported.
