JEE Main 2023: Hearing Adjourned On Plea Challenging 75% Eligibility Criteria

JEE Main 2023 75 percent eligibility criteria are challenged in the Bombay High Court.

The Bombay High Court adjourns the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the eligibility criteria of 75% and top 20 percentile in the board exams for the JEE Main 2023. The matter was listed today as item no. 31 before a Bench of Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

"Hon'ble Chief Justice of Mumbai HC is not sitting for 2 days, will update next date once we get," told Anubha Srivastava Sahai to ABP Live.

Aspirants have urged to remove the 20 percentile criteria and lower the eligibility criteria to 50 percent. The PIL is filed by Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahai.

Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) revised the eligibility criteria for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board. As per the NTA, candidates who wish to be considered for admission through JEE Main must have obtained a minimum of 75 percent marks in their board exams, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

JEE Main 2023 is scheduled to be conducted in two sessions- January and April. The January session has already concluded, while registrations are currently ongoing for the April session.

JEE Main 2023 session 2 examinations will be conducted by NTA on April 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12. The exam city intimation for JEE mains second attempt will be issued in the third week of March, whereas JEE Main session 2 admit card 2023 will be released in March last week.

JEE Main 2023 Session 2 Registration: How To Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official NTA JEE website - jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on “Online Application for JEE Main Session-2 (2023)”.

Step 3: In the new window that opens, click on “New Registration”.

Step 4: Read the instructions carefully, check the acknowledgment box at the bottom of the page, and then click on ‘click here to proceed’.

Step 5: Submit the registration form, select your preferred password, fill in the captcha and then click on ‘submit’.

Step 6: Log in to the portal again using your login credentials: generated Application ID and your Password.

Step 7: Fill the application form completely.

Step 8: Upload relevant documents, photo, and signature.

Step 9: Pay the application fee online and submit the application.

Step 10: Download and save the confirmation page for reference.
