Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the students during the G20 University Connect Finale at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, today, September 26, 2023. In his address, the prime minister heaped praises on the acrive participation of youth and students in the country as a key pillar behind the success of the recently concluded G20 Summit under India's presidency. "Not surprised at the G20 Summit's success; when youths get associated with an event, success is assured," PM Modi said at the event.


"Around 1.5 crore citizens contributed to the G20 Summit which witnessed over 200 meetings in around 60 cities, while 1 Lakh students from 100 universities participated in the G20 Summit through the G20 University Connect programme. Our people though big and delivered, even bigger," PM Modi added. 


Addressing the event, PM Modi further strfessed on India's acheivements and various initiatives launched by the central government to bolster overall development of the country. "The world listened to Bharat ki awaaz with, 'India is on the Moon,'" PM Modi said while reiterating the success of India's lunar mission 'Chandrayaan -3." He further said that in the past 30 days, India's diplomacy has reached new heights.

Pushing on various initiatives and policies laid down by the union government in the past 30 days, the prime minister further noted how the India-Middle-East-Europe Economic Corridoor, new Vande Bharat trains, international cricket stadiums, bid by Saudi Arabia to invest 100 billion dollars in India, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Rojgar Melas and others, are all related to creating job opportunities for the youth and further fecilitating national development. 


In his address, PM Modi further stated that the world is well apprived of the potential of India's youth. "We have come up as the fastest growing economy in the world, moving upwards from 10th to 5th largest economy in the world in record time. The world now looks towards India with hope and optimism. For gthe youth of India, the whole sky is open now," the prime minister said. "You should always see every opportunity as a chance to create new benchmarks. This is teh same approach that added to the grandeur of the G20 Summit, and itsead of a regular diplomatic affair, made the G20 Summit a people driven national moment," he added. 


Notably, the G20 Jan Bhagidari movement witnessed an unprecedented turnout with over 50 million young participants hailing from various schools, higher education establishments, and skill development centers across the nation. The G20 University Connect initiative was launched with the primary objective of fostering an understanding of India's G20 Presidency among the country's youth and encouraging their active involvement in various G20 events. This initiative successfully engaged more than 100,000 students from universities all over India. Originally conceived as a commemoration of India's 75th year of independence involving 75 universities, it eventually expanded its scope to encompass 101 universities throughout the country.

Numerous programs were organized nationwide under the banner of the G-20 University Connect initiative, drawing extensive participation from institutions of higher learning. Furthermore, what initially commenced as a program primarily for universities swiftly evolved to include schools and colleges, thereby reaching an even broader audience.
