The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has canceled the class 10th board exams and also decided to promote the students to class 11. The Himachal Pradesh government announced the decision in view of the covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday, May 5, through its Information And Public Relations Department's official Twitter handle.


Taking to the official Twitter handle, the HP government wrote, "Keeping in view the sharp surge of covid-19 cases in the State, it was also decided in the meeting that the annual examination of the 10th standard of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education would stand cancelled."



The government had also announced the postponement of the class 12 board examination and the annual examination of the colleges until further order. "It was also decided that the 12th standard examination of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education and the annual examination of colleges would also remain suspended till further orders,” reads the official tweet. 



Apart from this, the government had also announced that all the educational institutes in the state will remain closed till May 31, 2021. 



Most of the state boards had already either postponed or canceled their board exams in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases. Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have also canceled the class 10th board exams and had postponed the class 12th board exams in light of the pandemic.
