Schools Closed News: Due to the heavy rains in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, the district administration has announced a holiday for schools and pre-university colleges (PUC) on Tuesday in several parts of the district. The decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff. In an order issued by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan MP, parents were also advised to prevent their children from venturing into low-lying areas, lake shores, and beaches due to the prevailing weather conditions. The cautionary measure aims to minimize the risks associated with waterlogging and potential hazards in these areas during heavy rainfall.


"Due to excessive rain in the region, the holiday has been announced by the District authority in all schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodbidri and Bantwal," Dakshina Kannada DC Mulai Mugilan said.




According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected to persist in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka throughout this week. The IMD has predicted that the region may experience very heavy rainfall, ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, between Tuesday and Saturday.

Heavy rainfall during the monsoon season is currently affecting the Southwest states. Prior to Karnataka, the administration in Kerala has declared school holidays in various areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Idukki and Kannur districts, while an orange alert has been announced for all districts. As a result, school holidays have been declared today in Ernakulam and Alappuzha Districts.
