Himachal Pradesh School Reopening: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to postpone the reopening of the schools for regular classes until September 21, 2021. The decision has been taken in view of the covid-19 pandemic. Regarding this, the order has been issued by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on Monday, September 13, 2021.

"In view of COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh, all schools in the state to continue to remain close, except the residential schools further up to September 21," the state government said.

Earlier, the state government had allowed schools to be re-opened for classes 10, 11, and 12 students on August 2, 2021, due to the decline in coronavirus cases. However, the physical classes were stopped after the first week of the reopening of the schools in view of the rising number of covid-19 infections.

Around 200 cases of Covid-19 have been reported on a daily basis in Himachal Pradesh. The positivity rate of the covid-19 cases has again increased to about 2% from 0.9% in July 2021.

Meantime, various states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, and many others have also decided to re-open schools for class 11 and 12 students.

Schools across the country were closed after the nationwide lockdown on March 24 last year in view of the covid-19 pandemic. Although offline classes resumed from October last year, schools were once again forced to close after the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India that led to the death of the students.
