The Delhi HC said that students belonging to the persons with disabilities (PWD) category have to be given the due chance to appear in the second round of final year examinations, which will be conducted from September 14 in physical mode.
A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad said that considering the limited number of trains running presently, the required effort has to be made to provide these students confirmed tickets. It added that students can book tickets on the waiting list and inform the Railways two days in advance so that the authorities can do the needful.
The bench also directed DU to file an affidavit stating the number of students who have registered for the second phase of exams. The university will also have to mention when the results of both phases can be announced.
The next hearing of the matter will happen on September 22.

Advocate Jagjit Singh, who represented the ministry, emphasised the Railways already gives the concession to several PWDs categories including those with visual and speech impairment. He added that the procedure to avail the concession is set out.
Senior advocate S K Rungta, representing petitioner National Federation of Blind, has been asked to provide a list of PWD students who have to travel to Delhi from remote areas.
The high court was hearing pleas by law student Prateek Sharma and NFB seeking to set up effective procedures for PWD students so that educational directions can be sent to them properly and teaching material is provided to them online. The online open book exam for final year undergraduate students began from August 10 and ended on August 31.
The students who were unable to appear for online exams have an opportunity to give physical examinations which will be held from September 14.
