New Delhi: National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday announced the postponement of Joint Entrance Examination – (Main) 2021's April session.


The first two sessions have already been completed in February and March. The dates for the fresh session will be announced at least 15 days prior to the exam.

NTA is organising the JEE (Main) exam in 4 sessions. 6,20,978 candidates appeared in the first session and in session 2, there were 5,56,248 students. The third session was scheduled to be held on April 27, 28 and 30.


But looking at the Coronavirus situation, the April session has been postponed. Revised dates will be announced later, NTA stated adding that candidates will be informed about the same at least 15 days ahead of the exam.



Previously, The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for post-graduate students, which was scheduled to be held on April 18, was postponed because of the rising Covid-19 cases.


"In light of the surge in Covid-19 cases, GoI has decided to postpone the  NEET PG 2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18. Next date to be decided later. Decision has been taken keeping wellbeing of our young medical students in mind," Dr. Harsh Vardhan wrote in his tweet.


The NEET PG examination was earlier slated to be held in January but was postponed because of the Covid situation.


Students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were also relieved as the Class 10 board exams were cancelled while class 12 examinations postponed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the concerns in a meeting with Education Minister, Secretary and other important officials.


CBSE Class 12 exams will be held later, CBSE will review the situation on June 1. As for Class 10, students will be promoted on basis of internal assessment.
