The National Testing Agency (NTA) is slated to conduct the CUET-UG 2024 Exam from May 15 to May 31, 2023. The CUET UG 2024 Exam Dates were announced by the UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar last month. While the dates for one of the most sought-after exams in the country are out, the NTA is yet to announce the registration schedule and release the prospectus for the exam, which is expected to be released by the end of this year. Along with the registration schedule and official brochure, the NTA is also likely to announce the CUET-UG 2024 complete exam schedule for various papers and groups. What Is The CUET-UG Exam?


The CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year to shortlist candidates for admissions into undergraduate programmes of various Central Universities like JNU, BHU, AMU, DU, University of Hyderabad, and others. The exam was first introduced in 2022, scrapping out the individual entrance exams and merit-based admissions in several central universities. The CUET-UG Exam is a single gateway for admissions into undergraduate programmes offered by all central universities across the country.

CUET-UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria


As earlier, to apply for the CUET-UG 2024 Exam, candidates must have completed one of the following exams: 



  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. 

  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.

  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy

  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination. 

  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

  • Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination. 

  • In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.


Besides fulfilling the above - mentioned eligibility criteria, interested candidates will also be required to ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria as laid by the respective central university they wish to seek admission in. 


CUET-UG 2024: Exam Pattern and Syllabus


As was the case with the previous iterations of the CUET-UG Exam, the CUET-UG 2024 Exam is likely to carry over its familiar exam pattern and syllabus. The CUET-UG 2023 Exam was held in the online CBT (Computer Based Test) mode and in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.


As for the Exam Pattern, the CUET-UG 2024 Exam is expected to remain unchanged over its 2023 iteration. The CUET-UG 2023 Exam consisted of a Language Paper, General Test, and Doman Subject Test (Class 12 Subjects).
