'Compartment examinations are proposed to be conducted in September 2020. The date will be announced soon. CBSE will be issuing following two circulars for appearing in Compartment examination The Board is likely to release the results next week,' said the CBSE in the official notification.
While several students from class 10 have compartments in percentage of students Mathematics, Social Science and Science, class 12 students have the highest number of compartments in Mathematics, Accounts, and Economics.
According to a report by IANS, the CBSE has informed schools and students about this and have also released a letter regarding the exams. The Board had also asked for suggestions from students and parents on whether to conduct compartment examinations or not. Even though the feedback was mostly in favour of cancellation of exams, the Board has still decided to go ahead with it.

"JEE Main, NEET (UG) and JEE Advanced are important tests. They require Board results as based on them, a student gets admission in higher education. It is necessary to hold compartment exams because many students who have filled forms for these higher education tests, also have to appear for compartments this year," said the CBSE in the report.
Usually, the compartment exams are held in July after the results are released. But this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the exam schedule and the evaluation process of answer sheets were disrupted. This year a special assessment scheme was used to evaluate the marks after the pending exams were cancelled due to court order.
Earlier, CBSE, while filing its reply in court, had asked for compartment exams to be held. According to senior officials of the Ministry of Education and CBSE, these exams can be conducted in the first week of September.
