New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the first term examination for class 10th and 12th students from November to December. CBSE has released this year's revised syllabus.


According to the new syllabus, students will be constantly evaluated and several projects and activities will be conducted for distribution of fair marks. Classes 10th and 12th are divided into two terms- Term 1 and Term 2 and examinations will be conducted at the end of each term.


CBSE Internal Assessment Criteria



  • Class 10 students will have to take three periodic tests, along with practical work, speaking, listening activities, projects and other activities.

  • Class 12 students will be marked on the basis of end of topic or unit test, practical/project.

  • All marks obtained by students in internal assessment will be uploaded on CBSE IT platform. CBSE will provide evaluation, question bank, teacher training and other facilities to schools to ensure proper implementation of the new scheme.


CBSE Term 1 Exam Details



  • CBSE Term 1 exam will be conducted within a period of 4-8 weeks between November-December 2021. CBSE will soon announce exact dates.

  • CBSE Term 1 question paper will have multiple choice questions (MCQ) on Assertion reasoning type topic.

  • The term 1 exam will be conducted within a period of 90 minutes. The exam will cover about half of the entire CBSE 2021 syllabus. CBSE will share question papers with marking scheme to its affiliated schools.

  • OMR sheets will be provided to students and their response will be scanned and uploaded on CBSE portal by school authorities.

  • CBSE Term 1 exam marks will be added to CBSE academic year final results.


CBSE Term 2 Exam Details



  • CBSE Term 2 exam or end-of-year exam will be conducted at the examination centres decided by the board around March-April 2022.

  • The Term 2 exam will cover the remaining syllabus which is 50 percent of the entire syllabus.

  • The paper will be for a period of 2 hours and will have questions in different formats such as case-based questions, status-based, open-ended- short answer type questions and long answer type questions.

  • CBSE has announced that if the situation is adverse at the time of Term 2 exam, the board will conduct a 90 minute Multiple Choice (MCQ) based examination.

  • Term 1 and term 2 marks will be added to evaluate the student's final overall score.
