New Delhi: A 16-year-old boy allegedly took his life after failing in two subjects in the CBSE Board Class 12 exams in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area on Monday, police said. Arjun Saxena's body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at a paying-guest accommodation, where he was renting, news agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying. The officer mentioned that no suicide note was found at the scene.

The police had to forcibly break open the door to the room, the officer added.

Hailing from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, Arjun Saxena had moved to Delhi to prepare for the engineering entrance exam alongside his Class-12 studies. Saxena failed in two subjects in the CBSE Class 12, the results of which were announced on Monday. According to an officer, he was reportedly depressed, based on statements from others staying at the paying guest accommodation.

Saxena's family members have been notified, and his body has been placed in a mortuary for a post-mortem examination, the police said.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause behind his extreme step, the police added.
