With students gearing up for Common Admission Test (CAT) to be held on November 29, it’s time to focus on the examination and stay focussed. CAT 2020 remains one of the most sought after competitive exam for PGDM aspirants aiming for seats in top B-Schools of the country. It’s the last minute preparation for students who will take the exam in next two days. In this examination, students have to appear for sections such as Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) as well as their Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) skills.

Hence, it is important for every CAT aspirant to be aware of the CAT exam pattern and focusing on all these aspects in detail to be able to clear the exam.

Here are some important points to remember while appearing for the examination

  • As per the recent CAT 2020 exam format issued, students have to use the computer mouse for answering the multiple-choice questions. Also note that the medium of CAT 2020 exam will be English. A virtual keyboard would be displayed on the screen for answering non-MCQs. Hence, it is better to practice using the mouse and virtual keyboard.

  • Remember questions in CAT 2020 exam will consist of multiple choice questions (MCQs) along with non-MCQs.

  • This year, the exam duration has been changed to 2 hours from earlier 3 hours. Each student will have 40 minutes to attempt each section instead of earlier 60 minutes. Students will not be allowed to move to other section until the time limit for the present section you are attempting is over.

  • Note, every wrong answer in the MCQ would make you lose one mark.

  • You will not be allowed to use external or physical calculator. However, a virtual calculator would be available.

  • Students under PwD category will be provided with an extra 13 minutes and 20 seconds for each section.

  • Also, note that once you hit the timing of the sections, the timer would reach to Zero and the section will be locked.

  • At the time of answering the questions in CAT 2020 exams, you will have the following options to use-- Save and Next; Clear Response and Mark for Review and Next.

  • You are not allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. To understand the format of the test, aspirants are advised to work on tutorials, which are available on the CAT 2020 website.

  • Every student can clearly see the display the status of the attempted or unattempted CAT questions on the right hand side of the monitor.

  • On the completion of the CAT 2020 exam, students have to return the rough pages to the CAT invigilator.

  • One of the most important thing to do at the last minute is to solve previous year papers along with sample papers and mock tests. Even as the CAT exam pattern is changed every year to ensure that the exam is not predictable, it is still advised to practice old papers
